This is one of my favorite roguelikes, and certainly my favorite retail, non-freeware roguelike. While I think you're right about the outrage, it would still be a bit silly to be mad about, especially considering the only content perks are one pet each month (first one dropped today) and earlier access to builds (for a game that updates nearly every week outside of that). I don't have a problem with it, but I can see it being a big source of outrage that the game really doesn't need right now. Maybe not as quickly, maybe not as easily, but it can be done.
